Detox Information
Virtually
Pain-Free Opiate Detox
A
relatively new medication has proven to be effective in managing
all withdrawal symptoms that are associated with opiate detox.
The drug is Suboxone and with a Suboxone Detox Protocol, withdrawal
from all opiate substances including heroin, oxycontin, vicodin,
methadone, etc. is virtually pain free. Physicians must first
be approved by the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) and the FDA (Food
and Drug Administration) before they are able to prescribe Suboxone
for the detox from opiate addiction.
For
nearly a hundred years prior to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's
approval of Suboxone, detox centers and physicians have been seriously
limited in their treatment options for heroin and all synthetic
opiate (Oxycontin, Vicodin, Methadone, etc.) addictions. The problem
was the "Harrison Act of 1914", designed as a tax law
which was misinterpreted by the Supreme Court to not allow physicians
to prescribe opiates to opiate addicts, even if to help titrate
or wean them off their opiate of choice.
The
only exception to the "Harrison Act" was Methadone,
which has been largely misunderstood and misused by a large percentage
of it's Methadone Maintenance Clients. Over the past 25 or 30
years, many Methadone Maintenance Clients have used Methadone
Maintenance Programs to subsidize their opiate habits, which
has recently led large numbers of the methadone addicted to seek
help from physicians and detox centers offering a Suboxone
Detox Protocol for opiate detoxification.
Suboxone
Detox Protocol
The
patient is normally stabilized (determine the dose of Suboxone
that makes the patient comfortable) in 24-48 hours after induction
and experiences very little, if any discomfort during stabilization.
Then, he or she is titrated (stepped down) to no drugs over the
next 7-12 days.
If
you or someone you care about is addicted to an opiate substance,
whether it was originally prescribed to them by a physician or
not, please contact a licensed
detox center that uses a Suboxone Detox protocol for opiate
withdrawal.
